Accounts Assistant
The Opportunity:
We have a new opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts team, based at our Norwich office. This role provides comprehensive accounts support to the team as well as the wider firm. This department works in a fast-paced environment, and they are looking for an individual who feels comfortable working to tight deadlines.
About the Team:
The Accounts team is at the heart of the firm. Based in Norwich, the team plays a pivotal part in the success of the firm; friendly and approachable, they are a hardworking and professional group of like-minded financial professionals who are passionate about their responsibilities. The team needs to grow which reflects the growth of Spire Solicitors, but also reflects our desire to bring in new ideas and thinking as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
The Role:
This role will see the successful candidate undertaking the following tasks:
- Maintaining client & office ledgers, including posting receipts and payments in accordance with practice procedures.
- Issuing BACS, CHAPS and banking of cheques.
- Preparing the daily banking, including the preparation and execution of online banking transactions.
- Checking and posting bills/costs, checking Completion Statements and making daily transfers from client to office accounts.
- Assisting with month/year end reconciliations and reports as well as adhering to credit control procedures and processes.
- Carrying out credit/debit card transactions (including resolving any queries with fee earners) and dealing with the day end reconciliation of these transactions.
- Closing matters and assisting with administration of archiving.
- Assisting (as required) during audits of our accounts.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties or activities which may be allocated.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks and they should be able to evidence an extremely strong attention to detail. They should be a team-player who can quickly gain the trust of their team and clients as well as our professional colleagues in this demanding area of legal work. A good working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules would be an advantage, but this can be picked up quickly. We pride ourselves in putting our clients at the forefront of what we do, and we are looking for candidates who share this passion.

- Has previous experience in a similar role.
- Can demonstrate great time management, IT and communication skills and understands the importance of attention to detail.
- Enjoys a busy environment and has the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Has a positive "can-do" attitude and likes to learn new skills.
- Would be a great team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Can build a strong rapport with clients as well as their team.
